I just had to do a Dahlia Days CASE from the catalog for today’s hop. This month we are CASEing (Copying and Sharing Everything or Copying and Selectively Editing) something from the catalog. This card can be found on page 35 of the Jan-Jun 2022 mini catalog.
I’ll admit, this Dahlia card had me intrigued from the moment I saw the catalog. In fact, it was the deciding factor for me buying the set.
After making the card, I found that it wasn’t as hard as it looked. Of course, I’m not sure what exact steps were taken to make it, but I can only judge off of my own. When you break it down piece by piece, it is actually pretty easy.
The longest part is coloring with so many beautiful colors. The ink colors needed to replicate this card are as follows;
Now that you know what colors you will need, it is time to make the card.
To make the card
- Begin with a 3 1/2″ x 5″ Basic White Notecard.
- Carefully stamp your sentiment on the notecard, about 3″ to the right and 1″ from the bottom, using Tuxedo Memento black ink.
- Crop a piece of Watercolor paper with the large Detailed Dahlias die using your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine. (hint- the paper is thick, so it will take a few passes through the machine.)
- Cut your watercolor piece in two using your Paper Snips.
- Lay your two pieces on a paper towel and color with the following colors using your Water Painter: Bumblebee, Calypso Coral, Evening Evergreen, Just Jade, Mint Macaron, Old Olive, and Pale Papaya.
- Once your die-cuts are dry, adhere them to a 4 1/2″ x 6″ piece of Bumblebee cardstock using Multipurpose Liquid glue and the Silicone Craft Sheet method. Do this by laying the pieces upside down on your Silicone Craft Sheet, add some glue to the sheet (up in the corner and out of the way), dab a sponge into the glue, and lightly tap some glue on to the pieces. (Hint- this will ensure that your small pieces have glue on them, and you will not have to worry about globs of glue oozing out from your layers.) Once the glue is dry on your sheet, simply rub it off with your hand.
- Using your Paper Snips, fussy cut around the edges of the edges of the die-cut, leaving a small border. (hint- no need to cut around the straight edge, this will be cut off later.)
- Adhere your two pieces to the notecard using Multipurpose Liquid glue so that the sentiment is lined up in the center. (your edges will be hanging off)
- Flip the notecard over and trim the excess off with your Paper Snips.
- Adhere three Brushed Brass Butterflies as shown.
