A Freezin’ Fun Simple Shaker Card

The eleventh card in my 12 weeks of Christmas series is a Freezin’ Fun simple shaker. Shakers’ are fun to give, and this simple technique will make them even easier to make!

A Freezin' Fun Simple Shaker Card

Isn’t this guy cute! He’s decked out in his warm green hat surrounded by blue ice and shiny snowflakes.

I tried to keep the color palette simple and chose only three colors to work with.

The snowflakes and designer series paper (DSP) really do all of the work. They add texture and give a lot of movement to the card. The best part is…they are now on sale!!

To make this card

  • Begin with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Pool Party card stock, score and fold at 4 1/2″ to form your card base.
  • Adhere a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Whisper White card stock to the card base.
  • Stamp two seal images; one on a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Snowflake Splendor designer series paper (DSP) and the other on a post it note (to make a mask) using Tuxedo Memento black ink. (To make a mask, stamp the image on a post it note, being sure that a portion of the image is stamped where the sticky part is underneath, and cut out with your Paper Snips)
  •  Place your mask over the seal and stamp the chunk of ice over it with Tuxedo Memento black ink as shown.
  • Remove the mask and color the seal and ice using Gray Granite, Pool Party, and Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends.
  • Stamp some large and small snowflakes on the DSP randomly using Pool Party ink.

  • Place the DSP in a clear envelope and add some Snowflake Sequins, being sure to keep in in the section where the DSP is.
  • Turn the envelope over, fold down the end with the seal, burnish with your bone folder, and seal it. Fold down the other side, burnish it with your bone folder, and tape it in place with scotch tape.

  • Adhere the DSP envelope to the card using Stampin’ SEAL.
  • Punch the ends of a 7/8″ x 2 1/2″ piece of Pool Party card stock and a 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ piece of Whisper White card stock with the Lovely Labels pick a punch.
  • Stamp your sentiment on the Whisper White piece using Shaded Spruce ink, adhere it to the Pool Party piece, and attach it to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Crop a piece of Silver Foil paper with the Christmas Layers dies using your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.
  • Adhere the snowflakes to the card and label using Glue Dots. (hint – hide the glue dots under the Rhinestone Gems)
  • Attach some Holiday Rhinestone Gems to the snowflakes as shown.

So what do you think? It’s a great easy way to make a shaker. The idea actually came from a fellow demonstrator during our On Stage event, but I cannot remember her name. I’m just glad she shared it!

I would love to hear from you. Please let me know what you think of the Freezin’ Fun simple shaker card.
