A Layering Leaves Celebrate You Card

Today I am sharing a Layering Leaves card that is made for a celebration.

This card was for our Stampin’ Fancy Friday challenge, where the theme was showcasing a celebration. It was last month’s challenge, but I just realized that I hadn’t shared it yet.😉

For me, nothing says celebrate like a little iridescent! When I sat down to make this card, I let the colors of the iridescent guide me. The shimmer that it has in it paired perfectly with the colors Misty Moonlight and Petunia Pop. Of course, since those two colors are pretty bold together, I aded a lot of “white space” with the watercolor paper and Basic Beige cardstock.

The card was created with the Layering Leaves stamp set and the Bough and Heartfelt Hexagon punches.

To make the card

  • Begin with a 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock, score and fold at 4 1/4” to form your card base.
  • Lay a 3 3/4” x 5” piece of Fluid 100 watercolor paper on a protected surface. Spray water on the piece with your Stampin’ Spritzer, then paint it with Petunia Pop ink and your large Water Painter.
  • Let the piece dry, then adhere it to a 3 7/8” x 5 1/8” piece of Basic Beige cardstock. Wrap a piece of Iridescent Striped ribbon around it (about 1 1/4” from the bottom) and tie a bow sideways, and trim the ends. Adhere the piece to the card base.

Time to stamp

  • Stamp three leaf bunches on a piece of Basic Beige cardstock using Misty Moonlight ink. When stamping, use the stamp off technique for the inside color of the leaves. (Stamp off means to stamp on a piece of scrap paper, then without re-inking stamp your image.)
  • Punch the images, as well as two large leaf bunches in Petunia Pop cardstock and three small leaf bunches in White Glimmer paper, using the Bough punch.

  • Stamp your sentiment on a piece of Basic Beige cardstock using Misty Moonlight ink. Punch it out, as well as a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock, using the Heartfelt Hexagon punch.

  • Layer and adhere the two hexagons together so that the Misty Moonlight piece is showing slightly on the top and left.
  • Adhere the leaf bunches to the back of the sentiment using Multipurpose Liquid Glue and attach the piece to the card using Dimensionals.
  • Attach five Iridescent Faceted Gems as shown.
