Today I have a soft, Cottage Rose watercolor resist card. The colors are so soft that they are a little muted in the photo, but oh so pretty in person.

The watercolor resist method utilizes the Basics embossing powders. Specifically, the clear embossing powder. It’s a little hard to see against the white background, so I suggest making it in an area that has bright light. The light reflecting off of it really helps to see where to color.

To make the card
- Begin with a 4 ¼” x 11” piece of Basic White Thick cardstock, score and fold at 5 ½” to form your card base.
- Using your large Water Painter, apply some Calypso Coral ink to the center of a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Basic White cardstock.

- Sandwich the piece in the Pretty Flowers embossing folder and run through your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.
- Wrap a 13” piece of Simply Elegant Trim around the bottom of the embossed piece (3/4” from the edge), tie a bow, and trim the ends.

- Stamp the large flower on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Versamark ink, quickly dust it with clear Embossing Powder, remove the excess, and set in place with your Heat Tool.
- Color the rose with the following Watercolor Pencils; Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, and Old Olive. (hint- the color will only go on the areas that do not have clear embossing on it, so it won’t be solid color.)
- Go over the colored areas with the small Water Painter to soften and spread the color.

Time to crop and assemble
- Crop the flower with the Cottage Flowers dies using your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.
- Punch six leaves out with the Bough punch; three in Silver Foil Specialty paper and three in Brushstroke Specialty paper.

- Using a tiny amount of Multipurpose Liquid Glue (MLG), adhere the leaves to the back of the flower as shown.

- Adhere the flower and leaves to the embossed piece, centered over the colored area, using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Attach the embossed piece to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

- Stamp your sentiment of a 3/8” x 2 3/8” piece of Brushstroke Specialty paper using Stazon black ink. Adhere to the card using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

- Attach three Rhinestone Basic Jewels as shown.
