It’s not everyday that someone turns 100, so why not celebrate the special birthday with the peony dies? The dies make a very elegant flower and the watercolor background gives it a nice softness.
When a friend asked if a card could be made for someone celebrating their 100th birthday, I jumped right on the task.
Although there are no stamps that say Happy 100th Birthday, you can make one! This sentiment is from the Make a Difference stamp set. It allows you to spell out any word that you like. It does take a little bit of practice, but you can’t beat the versatility.
You can change the sentiment, but for the rest of the card, you will need the following colors;
Making the card
- To make the card, adhere a 4 1/8′ x 5 3/8″ piece of Peony Garden designer series paper to the card base.
- Using a Watercolor Painter, lightly color a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Watercolor paper with So
- Saffron ink, letting a little bit of white show through.
- Carefully stamp your sentiment in the lower right corner using Smoky Slate ink and mark up the edges of the paper using your bone folder.
- Crop a peony flower in So Saffron card stock, three leaves in Old Olive card stock, three leaf outlines in Garden Green card stock, and a stamen in Smoky Slate card stock using the Peony dies and your cut & emboss machine.
- Color the edges of your petals with So Saffron ink and the edges of your leaves using Old Olive ink with sponge daubers and assemble the flower.
- Adhere the leaves to the card using Stampin’ SEAL and adhere the flower using Stampin’ SEAL on the lower edge and Stampin’ Dimensionals on the upper edge. (hint – since the assembled flower is so thick, it lays flatter when only the top portion is elevated)
- Attach the watercolor paper to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Add three Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the card as shown.
Making the envelope fancy
If you want to make your envelope a little fancier, you can do the following;
- Glue a 2 1/2″ x 6″ piece of Subtles designer series paper to the outside of the envelope.
- Trim off the excess with your Paper Snips.
- To take it one step further – crop the envelope flap with the Envelopes Dies.
