A Triple Fold Valentine’s with Love Cats

Happy Valentine’s Day! To honor the holiday, I have a triple fold Valentine’s Day card with the Love Cats stamp set for you.

It’s no secret that I am a cat fan, so when I saw this stamp set, I just HAD to have it. It has sat on my shelf for a few weeks, so it is well past it’s time to be the star of the show!

To make it the star, I couldn’t just focus on one of the cats, I had to use all three! With the help of the Something Fancy stamp set, I was able to make the sentiments flow into a sentence. I finished it with a “Love You”.

I must warn you, this card is more like a “book”. It’s a little on the thick side, but I couldn’t resist adding layers throughout. In fact, each panel has a 3 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ layer, and four of the panels have an additional 3 5/8″ x 5 1/8″ layer.

To make the card

I started by cutting a 12″ x 12″ piece of Crumb Cake into two pieces measuring 5 1/2″ x 12″ and 4″ x 6 1/2″. I scored the larger piece at 4″ and 8″ and the smaller one at 5 1/2″ and 5 5/8″. Using the small flap (on the smaller piece), I adhered it to the larger piece.

The kitties and sentiments were stamped with the Stamparatus for solid coverage, and the backgrounds were created with Balmy Blue ink and a Small Blending Brush. To add a little more character, I “flicked” some black specks with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker.

I adhered all the layers, then die cut some grass and hearts from the Gnomes and Share a Milkshake dies. Then, I cropped the words from the Alphabet A’ La Mode dies. Lastly, I fussy cut the kitty, and he and the brick wall took their place on front of the card. The background grass was inspired by my friend Karen Hadler. She used grass for her jungle background card, and I thought it was brilliant!!

The finishing touches were done by adding some ribbon, a popped-up sentiment and a few embellishments.

All that was left was to stuff it in an envelope and give it to my husband for Valentine’s Day.

Before you go

I am sharing this card with the following challenges;
