Happy Friday!! I have an Adventurous Sky “In the Clouds” color challenge card for you today for #TGIFC506.
Our challenge this week is a color challenge! The three colors; Night of Navy, Silver, and Balmy Blue, make a perfect combo!!
When I saw these three colors, I immediately thought of the Take to the Sky suite collection. The DSP has the two blues in it and the plane naturally reminds me of silver.
Of course, when I set out to make the card, I found that just having the blues with the silver felt a little heavy. To combat that, I lightened it up with some white, wispy clouds, courtesy of some ordinary cotton balls.
To make the card
- Begin with a 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” piece of Night of Navy cardstock, score and fold at 4 1/4” to form your card base.
- Adhere a 3 5/8” x 5 1/2” piece of Basic White cardstock, centered, to your card base. Then, Adhere a 3 1/2” x 5 1/2” piece of Take to the Sky DSP on top.
- Stamp the swirls (from Bee My Valentine stamp set) and the sentiment on a 5/8” x 4 1/2” piece of Night of Navy cardstock using Versamark ink. Quickly dust it with Silver embossing powder, tap off the excess, and set in place with your Heat Tool.
- Trim both ends, diagonally, of your embossed piece and a 1/2” x 5” piece of Basic White, and one end of a 1” x 5” piece of Balmy Blue cardstock. Adhere the pieces to the card as shown.
- Crop the body of the plane and a propeller in Silver Foil, and the wings and wheels in Night of Navy cardstock using your Cut & Emboss machine. Adhere the plane together.
- Pull a piece of a cotton ball apart and shape in the form of a large cloud. Place a strip of Stampin’ SEAL above the strips of cardstock, about as long as the plane. Lay the cotton ball cloud on top. Lift areas of the cloud that were not adhered to the strip of Stampin’ SEAL, and place some Stampin’ SEAL underneath.
- Separate three small areas of the cloud using your Take Your Pick tool to prepare for Dimensionals. Place three Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of your plane. Lining the Dimensionals up with the three small areas in the cloud, adhere your plane to the card.
- Attach five Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins as shown.
