It’s all about fall for the Stampers Showcase Blog Hop this month. We are showcasing anything that has to do with fall, autumn, or Halloween.

This card is showcasing my favorite part of fall, the changing leaves. I love to see all the reds, oranges, and yellows!

Instead of doing individual leaves in those colors, I have made my own and incorporated them all into one. The use of Isopropyl Alcohol on Vellum cardstock made it all possible.

Card prep

To make the card

  • Begin with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Basic White Thick cardstock, score and fold at 5 1/2″ to form your card base.
  • Stamp your background image on a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock using Bumblebee ink.

  • Sandwich your stamped piece in the Tasteful Texture embossing folder and run through your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.
  • Mar the edges of your piece using your Bone Folder and roll a couple of the corners with your fingers. Do this by holding on to the edge of the textured piece, run your Bone Folder down the edge (in small increments) to mar up the edge slightly.
  • Adhere the embossed piece to a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Cajun Craze cardstock and attach to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Time to make the leaves

  • On a piece of Vellum cardstock, draw random blotches with the following Stampin’ Blends: Cajun Craze, Calypso Coral, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, and Real Red. (hint- I used all dark.)
  • Once dry, color over them again with the same colors so that they are nice and dark.
  • Pour a small amount of Isopropyl Alcohol ( 91%) in a bowl and get ready to dip a Water Painter in it.
  • Place your colored vellum on a safe working surface, dip your Water Painter in the alcohol, and lightly dab the Painter on the Daffodil Delight blotches. Dip and dab with your Painter until the ink spreads out and the color is a little lighter. Do this on all the Daffodil Delight blotches, then repeat with the remaining colors. (IMPORTANT – Only do one color at a time, otherwise the colors will all blend together. Instead of having clearly defined colors, you will have one big ugly color.
  • Once all your colors have had alcohol added to them, let the vellum dry. (You can dab the edges of the vellum with a paper towel or use your Heat Tool on the low setting. If you choose to use the Heat Tool, be careful not to let it get too hot or it will ruin your Vellum.)

  • Crop the stained Vellum with the Intricate Leaves dies, as well as a leaf in Cajun Craze and Bumblebee cardstock, using your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine. (The Vellum leaves will be a little curly, but that is ok. It will give them dimension when attached to the card.)

Making it all come together

  • Adhere the leaves to the card using Glue Dots. First attach the Cajun Craze leaf, then the two Vellum leaves, then the Bumblebee leaf.
  • Crop a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock with the Seasonal Labels dies using your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.
  • Stamp your sentiment on the label using Versamark ink. Sprinkle the sentiment with some Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and set with your Heat Tool.

  • Adhere the label to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
