This week we have a color challenge for #TGIFC428. We are combining Basic Black, Lemon Lolly, and Sweet Sorbet.
When I first saw this color combo, I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not. However, after creating a card with these colors, I fell in love with them.
The deep dark background makes a perfect backdrop for the other colors. I think it makes the Lemon Lolly really stand out and the Sweet Sorbet just “pops”.
To make this card, I have a quick YouTube video showing the step by step process that you can view below.
A complete list of the supplies used can be found at the end of this post, and the measurements that you will need are as follows;
- Basic Black 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- Basic Black 4″ x 5 1/4″
It really was quite simple to put together. It requires a lot of embossing, but I think that is what really makes is shine!
We would love to see what you can come up with for this color challenge. What can you create with Basic Black, Lemon Lolly, and Sweet Sorbet? Head on over to the TGIF Challenges Blog, and join us by adding your own creation to share.
I hope you like it. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think of my Color Challenge for #TGIC428 card. You can leave it here, or visit my YouTube channel and comment there.

That is such a striking color pallet and you made such a beautiful card!
Thank you Joanne!
I can’t find this list of supplies. What is the name of the floral stamp/dies?
Hi Pamela! Thank you for letting me know. For some reason the supplies are not showing when looking on a mobile device, but they are there when viewing the post on a computer. My computer guy is working on fixing it, but in the mean time the stamp set used is Irresistible Blooms.
I’m totally with you on wondering about these colors going together, but you definitely proved that they go together very nicely! I love how you made everything pop out at you when looking at the card! Absolutely stellar artwork again!!!!
Thank you so much my friend!😉
What a stunning card!
Thank you so much Mary Lou!!💗
Melissa,
This card is so pretty! I love all of the embossing and the color combination, although an unusual one, is very striking! I also appreciate when demonstrators list supplies used on a project as you did with pictures and links, so helpful! Thank you for the inspiration!
Thank you Barb for the kind words and you’re very welcome!!
I’m not seeing the complete list of supplies and details listed at the end of your post, only the first two cardstock measurements. Thanks
Hi Stella! It must have been a weird glitch earlier, because it’s there now.😀
