Happy Thursday! Today I have a card for you made with the Country Birdhouse bundle.
A couple of weeks ago, I attended a demonstrator only gathering here in Arizona. There were 86 of us and we had such a good time! We made cards, played bingo, socialized with one another, and some of us participated in a card swap.
Card swaps are always fun to do. You make multiples of your card, (a number usually set by who organizes the swap) and you trade or “swap” them with other people that are participating.
This County Birdhouse card is my swap card. I made 16 of them, and in turn, got 16 fabulous cards made by others. Here is a picture of them.
Aren’t they great? So many different cards made with sets that I don’t own. It’s fun to see the different designs, but there is a downside. Now that I’ve seen what some of these stamps are capable of, I need to have them! You can bet that some of them are on my list now.😂
Now, for the Country Birdhouse card. Here is how I made it.
To make the card
- Begin with a 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” piece of Pool Party cardstock, score and fold at 4 1/4” to form your card base.
- Adhere a 4” x 5 1/4” piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock to the card base.
- Stamp some dot splatter on a 3 7/8” x 5 1/8” piece of Basic White cardstock, in a random pattern, using Pool Party ink and the stamp off method. (Hint- stamp off means to stamp on a piece of scrap paper, then without re-inking, stamp your image.)
- Sandwich the splattered piece into the Eyelet embossing folder, run through your Cut & Emboss machine, and adhere to the card.
- Stamp the chain and the bird on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Memento black ink. Color the bird with Daffodil Delight and Medium Deep (SU 300) Stampin’ Blends. Then, fussy cut the chain and crop the bird with the Country Birdhouse dies. (Hint- fussy cut means to cut out with your Paper Snips.)
- Using the Country Birdhouse dies again, crop the following birdhouse pieces in the Country Woods DSP; the house in white striped DSP, the house base and a skinny eave in weathered pool party DSP, a scalloped eave in Misty Moonlight DSP, and a roof and perch in dark wood DSP. Then crop A large and small flower in the Peal Pink Country Lace DSP and Misty Moonlight cardstock, and a double-leaf in Old Olive cardstock.
- Next, crop the following with the Country Flowers dies; a leaf bunch in Old Olive cardstock and a large and small flower in the Petal Pink Country Lace DSP.
Time to assemble
- Assemble the birdhouse as shown below. (Hint- all the pieces are glued together using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, except the roof. It is adhered with Mini Dimensionals.)
- Adhere the chain to top, center of the embossed piece on the front of the card.
- Cut a small 1” x 1 1/2” piece of Early Espresso cardstock and adhere it to the center of the card. (Hint- hold the birdhouse over the front of the card, to ensure the piece will line up with the hole of the house.)
- Adhere the birdhouse to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Stamp your sentiment on a 3/4” x 1 3/4” piece of Petal Pink cardstock using Memento black ink.
- Snip the ends of the sentiment with your Paper Snips and attach to the card using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. (Hint- Only apply the Dimensionals to the areas not covering the birdhouse so it is even with it.)
- Apply some Mini Dimensionals to the back of the bird. Be sure to place a double stack of Dimensionals to area where the bird hangs off the house.
- Attach three Tinsel Gems as shown.
