Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!
This month, the theme is Cute Critters. We really hope that you will be inspired by all the amazing creations the Pals are sharing with you! As you hop from blog to blog, we would love for you to leave a comment. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
The cute critters that immediately came to mind for me, is the little ducks from the Easter Friends stamp set. Since Easter is right around the corner, it was the perfect timing for this card too.
I kept the color palette pretty neutral for this one. The patterned background is pretty busy, so I didn’t want anything competing with it. The colors used were:
To make the card
- Begin with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, score and fold at 4 1/4″ to form your card base.
- Place a small dab of Stampin’ SEAL on a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock and place it on a scrap piece of paper. Lay the Decorative Mask on top of your cardstock and tape the corners and sides using a removable tape, such as a Post It note.
- Carefully color over your mask with a Blending Brush using Soft Succulent ink.
- Remove the mask and wrap a 6″ piece of Bumblebee Gingham ribbon around it (approximately 1″ from the top), secure the ends with adhesive, and adhere to a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Kraft paper.
- Adhere the two layers to your card base using Stampin’ SEAL.
- Punch three labels out of Kraft paper with the Label Me Lovely punch.
- Stamp your sentiment on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock using Crumb Cake ink and punch out with the Everyday Label punch.
- Adhere your sentiment to one of the Label Me Lovely labels and adhere the other two labels together, slightly overlapping them at a diagonal, using Stampin’ SEAL.
Time to stamp the cute critters
- Stamp three grass tufts on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock using Garden Green ink. Lightly color over them with your Water Painter to give them a softer appearance.
- On another piece of Shimmery White cardstock, stamp the two ducks using Sahara Sand ink.
- Color the ducks with Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and the white Watercolor Pencils. When coloring, use both the yellow and white pencils, in alternating strokes, on the shaded parts of the ducks. (hint- alternating the two colors will allow some of the white to show through and give softness and variation in the yellow.)
- Lightly color over the ducks again with your Water Painter.
- Fussy cut the ducks and grass tufts. (fussy cut means to cut out with your Paper Snips)
- Adhere the glued labels to the card, followed by the grass, using Stampin’ SEAL and attach the ducks and sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Tie a small bow in the Bumblebee Gingham ribbon and attach it to the card using a Glue Dot.
- Attach five Genial Gems as shown.
