Today’s card, Friendly Thoughts with Floral Essence, is for the Global Design Project. I am playing along with them again, and this week it is a color challenge.
The challenge is to come up with a design showcasing the following colors;
To showcase these colors, I created a Split Front card (also know as a Recessed Panel card). This type of card is pretty easy to make and really shows off the colors.
Begin with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base of Whisper White thick card stock. Adhere a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 piece of Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper to it.
Cut the layers. The diagonal cut can be done a couple of different ways, but I made marks on both 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 pieces of Magenta Madness and Whisper White layers using a ruler and a pencil.
For the Whisper White layer, place a mark at 1/2 and 1 1/4 from the top left side. On the right side, mark at 2 1/2 and from the bottom right mark at 1/4. Make a diagonal cut from the 1/2 mark on the left to the 2 1/2 on the right and the 1 1/4 mark on the left to the 1/4 mark on the bottom.
Repeat the process for the Magenta Madness piece by making a mark at 5/8 and 1 1/8 from the top left side. On the right side, mark at 2 5/8 and from the bottom right mark at 1/8. Make a diagonal cut from the 5/8 mark on the left to the 2 5/8 mark on the right and the 1 1/8 mark on the left to the 1/8 mark on the bottom.
Next, you’ll place the Whisper White pieces into the Subtle embossing folder. However, before you do, stamp your sentiment on the bottom piece with Tuxedo Memento black ink.
Adhere your layers together and attach with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Now that the base of the card is formed, turn your attention to the details.
Stamp, color (with Daffodil Delight and Magenta Madness), and fussy cut the flower.
Then, using your Just Jade ink pad, stamp two leaves on to some Just Jade card stock. Crop them using the Forever Flourishing dies.
Adhere the leaves, the flower, and add some Enamel Dots as shown.
