Today is all about the outdoors, so I have a Greatest Journey Meets Mountain Air card for you.
My husband is an outdoor enthusiast who likes to hike in the mountains, so I made this card for him. Initially, I was just going to use the Enjoy the Journey suite, which includes the Greatest Journey stamp bundle, but I wanted a different color palette than what was in the suite. It consists of some pretty bright colors, none of which my husband would have enjoyed.
By making my own background, with Mountain Air, I was able to come up with a more neutral color scheme.
To create my background, I first stamped the sun, then put a mask over it. Next, I stamped the mountains and grassy plains, using another mask as I went. Once those were stamped, I colored the sky using a Small Blending Brush. I then removed the masks and colored the images with my Stampin’ Blends.
I made a similar card with this technique two years ago, and you can find it here.
The background was layered with some Textured Shimmer Paper and they were adhered to a Basic Black card base.
The sentiment was created the same way as the sky, with a Small Blending Brush. After it was finished, I stamped some trees, cropped them as well as the other layering pieces, and attached them all with glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I love how this card turned out, and my husband really enjoyed it as well. What do you think, I would love to hear from you. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think of my Greatest Journey Meets Mountain Air card.

I LOVE this card so much! Everything about it, stamping, colors, so beautiful, I feel like im outside enjoying nature by looking at it! Thank you for sharing your talent and ideas with us! Happy stamping 🙂 ~Laura
Thank you Laura!! You’re very welcome, I’m always happy to share. 💗
I love this card but I just don’t like those trees in the foreground. I think a black dog would have looked so much better. ( just my opinion) I hope I didn’t insult you or hurt your feelings it’s just my opinion.
Thank you Kay, you didn’t insult me at all. The great thing about card making is that it is so individualized, that when the same stamp set gets used by everyone, you are bound to see some that you like better than others. 🙂
WOW, you never cease to amaze me with your incredible talent!🥰🤩 I only wish I could think outside the box as you do! Absolutely love both cards; the one with the heart cutout really hits the spot though! I think my past career is what’s holding me back; only thinking of everything in military colors and “dress right dress”. Don’t ever stop creating the way you do!😀❤️🤗
Dagi, you are too funny! Those military drab colors are hard to overcome, but I believe you can do it too. Reading your comment has really made my day!! You are the kindest, and the reason that I create the way that I do. Thank you so much!!💗💗
Melissa,
I knew there was a reason a kept the Mountain Air bundle and this card is it!
Fabulous card and spot on with the mountains. Now I have to make it. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you Desiree! Mountain Air will always be my go to when I need a mountain scene, I just love it! You’re very welcome for the share. 🙂
Beautiful card, Melissa! The die cuts & layers are just wonderful
Thank you so much Marilyn!
I really love both the men cards that you’ve made. They are very beautiful. You do such beautiful work.
Thank you Sharon, I appreciate your kind words.💗
Loved this stunning card and can’t wait to make it! I know several hikers who would love this. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Thank you so much Julie! Have fun making it, let me know if you need any help. 🙂
