Happy Birthday with Counting Sheep

It’s a Happy Birthday with Counting Sheep! These little guys are oh so cute and there is just a small amount of time left to get them.

Happy Birthday with Counting Sheep

Aren’t they adorable? I had a lot of fun designing this one and it puts a smile on my face every time I look at it. Since they are sheep, I wanted to include some grass and the look of a barn. With the help of my Blending Brushes and the In Good Taste DSP, I was able to achieve both.

The sheep

The sheep are from the stamp set Counting Sheep. It is one of the FREE stamp sets that you can earn during the current Sale-a-Bration promotion.

Another FREE item in the brochure is the matching dies. They not only include the dies for the sheep, but there are some extras that include a fence, a hat, a balloon, and more. It really is a great set and getting it FREE is even better!

Sheep dies

To make the card

  • Begin with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2” piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock, score and fold at 4 1/4″ to form your card base.
  • Cut a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock and color your sky and grass with your Blending Brushes using Balmy Blue and Granny Apple Green ink.
  • Using your Stitched Rectangles dies and your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine, cut out three rectangle windows in a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of In Good Taste designer series paper (DSP). Use the 2nd smallest rectangle at the top and bottom right and the more-square rectangle for the middle left.

  • Crop two sections of fence in Soft Suede with the Sheep dies using your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.
  • Turn your DSP (with the cutouts) over and adhere the two fence sections to the right side, covering a portion of the rectangles, with Stampin’ SEAL.

  • Apply Foam Adhesive Strips to the outside and around the rectangle cut outs and adhere to your background piece.
  • Adhere the entire piece to the card base using Stampin’ SEAL.

Time for the sheep

  • Stamp three sheep, three birthday hats, and your sentiment on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Memento ink.
  • Color the sheep and the hats with the following Stampin’ Blends: Basic Black light, Color Lifter, Daffodil Delight light, Granny Apple Green dark, Gray Granite light & dark, Ivory, Pale Papaya light, and Smoky Slate light & dark.
  • Crop the sheep and hats with the Sheep dies using your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.
  • Cut the bottom three feet off the lighter sheep and attach him into the middle window using a double stack of Stampin’ Dimensionals. (hint- since the Foam Adhesive Strips are a little thicker than the Stampin’ Dimensionals, it takes two of them to pop the sheep up to the same height.)

  • Slide a portion of the top sheep under the fence and adhere him and the bottom sheep using a double stack of Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • Attach the two lower hats to the card using one Mini Stampin’ Dimensional. Attach the top hat using a double stack.
  • Punch your sentiment and a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock with the Double Oval Punch.
  • Layer and adhere the two ovals together using Stampin’ SEAL and attach to the card. (hint- since the ovals extend into the rectangle, place Stampin’ SEAL behind the left side and use a double-stack of Stampin’ Dimensionals behind the right.)
  • Attach three Cute Stars Adhesive-Backed Sequins as shown.
