Today I have a Happy Birthday card for you made with the new Happy Hibiscus stamp bundle.
This pretty birthday card is for #TGIFC498, and our theme this week is a sketch challenge.
This kind of challenge is actually my favorite! I just love having half of the card already made for me. The design is already there, so all I have to do is customize it to make it my own.
To do that, I am using the new Happy Hibiscus stamp bundle, an online exclusive, that was just released Tuesday. It has a hybrid embossing folder, and it gives great definition to the flowers.
To make the card
- Begin with a 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” piece of Petal Pink cardstock, score and fold at 4 1/4” to form your card base.
- Layer and adhere a 3 7/8” x 5 1/8” piece of Regal Distressed Patterns DSP to a 4” x 5 1/4” piece of Basic White cardstock, and adhere to the card base.
- Stamp your sentiment (from Magnolia Mood) on the left side of a 1/2” x 4 3/4” piece of Petal Pink cardstock using Versamark ink. Quickly dust it with gold embossing powder, tap off the excess, and set in place with your Heat Tool.
- Cut another 1/2” x 4 3/4” strip of Petal Pink cardstock and adhere it and the sentiment to the card.
- Stamp the three flower images on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Memento black ink. Color the images with the following Stampin’ Blends; Calypso Coral (L), Daffodil Delight (D), Flirty Flamingo (D), and Poppy Parade.
- Open your Happy Hibiscus embossing folder with the SU logo to the left. Lay your flowers right-side-up on the right side, look at the back of the folder and line the bleed-through image up with the flowers, and tape in place.
- Lay the die with the cutting edge up on the left side of the folder, fold it closed, and run through your Cut & Emboss machine.
- Stamp two large leaves and two small leaves on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Memento black ink.
- Color the leaves with Granny Apple Green (D) and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.
- Crop the leaves, as well as another leaf in Old Olive cardstock, with the dies.
Time to assemble
- Adhere the flowers and leaves together, ensuring that they will fit in the corner of the card, but do not adhere to the card yet.
- Run a couple strips of Stampin’ SEAL in the right-hand corner of the card, where the flowers will go.
- Lay a 24” piece of Gold Twisted Thread, in a multiple-circle pattern, over the adhesive and stick in place.
- Adhere the flowers to the card, over the gold thread, using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Attach three Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems as shown.
