It wouldn’t quite be the holidays without a Hanukkah card, so I present Happy Hanukkah with Snowman Season.
I just love this snowman! Adding a yamaka to him just makes me smile even more!!
New Product Sneak Peek
Did you notice how smooth my background looks? It was created using the new Blending Brushes. These brushes are a dream. They are so soft and they blend the ink so much better than using sponges or daubers.
The brushes are in the upcoming 2021 January-June Mini Catalog. They will be available to purchase on January 5th.
To Make the Card
- Begin with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Mist Moonlight card stock, score and fold at 4 1/4″ to form your card base.
- Adhere a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Whisper White card stock to the card base.
- On a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock (approx 3″ x 5″), cut a wave shape to represent your snow slope. (A great alternative would be to use the Curvy dies if you have them)
- Lay a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Whisper White card stock on a protective surface, lay the cut-out snow slope on top, and secure in place with post it notes.
- Using the Blending Brushes, create your sky background. Start with So Saffron and rub it on lower 1/3 of the sky, then blend some Pumpkin Pie below it. Next, blend Misty Moonlight from the top down to the So Saffron and blend a little Night of Navy on the top portion.
- Once you are happy with the background blend, flip the snow slope (that you used as a mask) over and cover the background. Use another Blending Brush and color the lower portion with Seaside Spray ink.
- Stamp the sentiment in the lower left corner using Misty Moonlight ink and stamp the trees using Garden Green ink, then adhere to the card.
- Using Tuxedo Memento black ink, stamp the snowman and his two arms on a piece of Whisper White card stock. Color the snowman’s nose with Pumpkin Pie and the inside perimeters of his body with Seaside Spray Stampin’ Blends.
- Punch the snowman and his arms out with the Snowman Builder punch.
- Using the Apple Builder punch, punch out a leaf using Misty Moonlight card stock. Trim a sliver off of the leaf and adhere to the snowman’s head for a Yamaka.
- Cut a 2 1/4″ piece of Misty Moonlight ribbon, wrap it from the back of the snowman to the front and secure with glue dots.
- Tie knots in the ends of a 3 1/4″ piece of Flowers for Every Season twine, wrap it just like the ribbon, and secure with rolled up glue dots.
- Adhere the snowman to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals and glue some Snowflake Sequins to the card as shown.
*** The blends can be a little tricky and you may feel like the colors are too dark. That’s ok, there is a fix for that! With a clean Blending Brush, go over the colors with a little bit of Whisper White Craft ink. A little goes a long way and you want to make sure to start with the lightest color. You should also clean your brush. Dipping a colored brush back on to your pad will discolor your white ink.
I realize that since the Blending Brushes aren’t available yet, you cannot use them. A good substitute would be your sponges or daubers. It may not be as smooth, but you will still have a great card.
