Today is all about embossing. In fact, this Hot Air Balloon card is embossed three different ways!
I made this card for April’s Stampin’ Fancy Friday challenge and it was shared by them yesterday.
For our challenge, we were to show a project using our favorite technique. Since I like to emboss, this card came together rather easily.
I couldn’t just do one kind of embossing though, I had to share my love of embossing using three different techniques. The card base is dry embossed, the balloon is heat embossed, and the clouds are embossed using embossing paste.
To make the card
- Begin with a 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock, score and fold at 4 1/4” to form your card base.
- Sandwich the front half of the card base in the Basics 3D embossing folder and run through your cut & emboss machine.
- Using the cloud dies, randomly crop clouds out of a 3 7/8” x 5 1/8” piece of Basic White cardstock.
- Lay the cropped piece on top of another 3 7/8” x 5 1/8” piece of Basic White cardstock, place both of them on a protected surface, and secure in place with removable tape.
- Place some embossing paste on your Silicone Craft Sheet and add a drop or two of Balmy Blue ink. Mix well and speed it over your cloud mask. Remove the mask and let dry.
- Stamp some vertical balloon stripes on a piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock using Versamark ink. Quickly dust it with some white Embossing Powder, tap off the excess, and set in place with your Heat Tool.
- Crop the stripes, as well as the other items shown below. Adhere the smaller pieces to the balloons.
- Place a piece of Foam Adhesive Sheet to the back of a piece of Lost Lagoon, and crop out the sentiment with the Wanted to Say dies.
- Once your embossed clouds are dry, lay them diagonally over a 3” x 3 1/4” piece of Lemon Lolly cardstock. Adhere the pieces to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Adhere your sentiment to the front of the card and attach the balloons using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Attach three Rainbow Adhesive-Backed Dots as shown.
