This week my step-dad is celebrating his 70th birthday. In order to recognize this memorable milestone, I am sending him the It’s Your Birthday with Senior Years card.
This cute stamp is part of a fun whimsical set called Senior Years. It’s easy to color and has many sentiments geared towards aging and retirement.
Want to Make it?
Begin with a 4 1/4 x 5 card base of Crumb Cake card stock. Ink up the front side of your Brick & Mortar embossing folder with Versamark and emboss a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Crumb Cake cardstock (see why below). Adhere to the card base.
Stamp your image and color with Ivory, Gray Granite, Soft Suede, Cinnamon Cider, Mint Macaron, Crumb Cake, and Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends.
Crop the image with the 5th largest rectangle, and crop a piece of Shaded Spruce and Mint Macaron Designer Series Paper (DSP) with the 4th largest rectangle from the Stitched Rectangle Dies.
Adhere the image to the DSP, the DSP to the Shaded Spruce rectangle (slightly rotated), and then adhere all to the card using Stampin’ SEAL.
Stamp your sentiment on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock. Crop the sentiment with the 2nd smallest rectangle (from the narrow rectangle set) (aligned on the left) and a piece of Shaded Spruce with the smallest rectangle from the Stitched Rectangle dies.
Since the sentiment piece is too long, it will need to be cropped again. Using the same die (2nd smallest from the narrow set) line it up with the holes and resize it to fit the Shaded Spruce layer (see pics below).
Adhere the sentiment to the Shaded Spruce layer and attach to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Embossing Folder Technique Tip
Want to make your embossing folder impressions stand out a little more? The trick is to ink up your embossing folder with Versamark. Since it is colorless, it will only enhance the color of the card stock that you are using.
Here is a comparison of embossing with and without using Versamark. The image on the left was done with using only a small spritz of water and the image on the right was done using Versamark. See the difference? The Versamark really makes the brick stand out and adds some vibrance to the color.
