My Garden Grows with Magnolia Mood for the Pals Blog Hop - main photo

Since I live in Arizona, my garden only grows desert plants. A lot of them bloom pretty flowers, but they are no where near the beauty of the magnolia.

When I lived in Oklahoma, I had a magnolia tree in my yard. The flowers were so large and magnificent, and I have loved them ever since.

This card came together after creating my Magnolia Mood card class. I used watercolor pencils to create one of he magnolias and couldn’t help but wonder what it would look like in pink. I’m so glad I tried it too, because I couldn’t have been happier with the way it turned out. The soft pink really shows off the detail of the flowers.

The stamp set comes with three different flower images and I managed to squeeze all of them (plus some) on there.

To make the card

I started by splattering some white craft ink on a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock. It was then layered with a piece of embossed Basic White cardstock. Both were attached to a card base of Basic White Thick cardstock with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I chose to use a sentiment from the stamp set Sweetly Scripted. I just the love the font and the lines on the sides. It was placed on the card to divide the two sets of flower clusters.

Once that was done, I moved on to the images. I stamped my magnolias with Stazon black ink. They were colored with the Melon Mambo and Old Olive Watercolor Pencils, and then I painted them with plain water and my Water Painter brush.

The flowers were cropped out with the dies, assembled together, and attached to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some Flat Adhesive-Backed Pearls tie it all together.
