Sunday, May 10th is Mother’s Day, and what better way to thank her than sending a beautiful home-made card!
This Painted Poppies Mother’s Day card color palette was inspired by the soon-to-be retired Painted Poppies Designer Series Paper. The colors; Balmy Blue, Poppy Parade, Old Olive, and Mossy Meadow make a beautiful combination.
I colored the poppies with Poppy Parade and the leaves with Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. The splattered background was done in Balmy Blue, and the Mossy Meadow sprigs tied all of the colors together.
This beautiful card has a lot of depth to it too! As you can see from the picture below, there are many layers to it. Adding Stampin’ Dimensionals to the top layer, as well as, the poppies gives it height. When height it added, it takes away the flat look that some cards often have.
Great depth right? Did you also happen to notice the sparkle on the poppies? To give it a little “pop”, I added a shimmer of Wink of Stella to them.
I am sure that my mother-in-law is going to LOVE this card, and I couldn’t be happier to give it to her!

Good morning – Your mother-in-law will love this card!!! I have been creating everything Poppies. I really appreciate this color combination.
Thank you Laura! The poppies are a really fun set. I’m glad you like the Balmy Blue color combo.
THis card is beautiful I honestly thought you used the Mercury paper from the Holiday catalog. Thank you for sharing your talents. Happy Mother’s day if it applies to you and Happy Sunday.
Thank you Cyndi, I’m happy to share. After looking at it, you are right. It does kind of look like the mercury paper (which I loved by the way). I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
Very pretty card! Is the Make a Difference stamp set hard to use?
Thank you! The Make a Difference stamp set is a very versatile set, but I find that it is essential to use the stamparatus. The stamparatus allows you to fine-tune the line up, so that you can make sure your letters are straight. So, is it hard to use? It really depends on your comfort level with the stamparatus. It did take me a couple of tries to get “Mom” lined up.
A beautiful project, and I love your new website!
Thank you Mary!
