The Party Puffins Make a Wish card is such a fun card. These cute little birds are sure to bring a smile to someone’s face.
They sure do bring a smile to my face. When I saw this stamp set, I just had to have it! The puffins remind me of some very special times in my life when I was in the military.
I spent some time in Iceland back then, where I first discovered this bird. They are everywhere in Iceland. In fact, it is considered the puffin watching capital of the world.
They are cute birds that are very similar to the penguin. Of course, I think they have a little more personality than the penguin, but I am biased.
To make the card
- Begin with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock, score and fold at 4 1/4″ to form your card base.
- Adhere a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic Black cardstock to the card base using Stampin’ SEAL.
- Wrap a 17” piece of Playful Pets trim twice around a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Pattern Party designer series paper (DSP), secure the ends with adhesive, and adhere to the card base using Stampin’ SEAL.
- Stamp your sentiment on a 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Memento black ink and punch the ends with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch.
- Cut a 7/8″ x 2 7/8″ piece of Poppy Parade card stock and punch the ends with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch.
- Layer and adhere the two labels together using Stampin’ SEAL.
- On a piece of Basic White cardstock, stamp three puffins and a birthday cake using Tuxedo Memento black ink. (hint- make sure you don’t stamp them too close together so you can crop them with a circle die)
- Color the puffins and birthday cake with the following Stampin’ Blends; Daffodil Delight, Polished Pink, Poppy Parade, and Pumpkin Pie.
- Fussy cut the cake, adhere it to the left side of the labels, and attach to the card (over the twine) using Stampin’ Dimensionals. (fussy cut means to cut out with your Paper Snips)
- Crop the puffins out with the Layering Circles dies using your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine. Use the 3rd largest circle for the puffin in the hat, the 4th largest circle for the puffin dancing, and the 6th largest circle for the little puffin.
- Using your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine again, crop the 3rd, 4th, and 6th largest scalloped circles in Poppy Parade cardstock.
- Layer and adhere the circles and scalloped circles together and attach to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals, being sure to overlap them slightly.
- Attach three Matte Black Dots as shown
- Apply a small amount of Wink of Stella to the hat and icing for a little shimmer.
