The Prized Peony Sorry for Your Loss card is great for sending your condolences. Let’s face it, no one likes to send this type of card, but we need them. And, if you’re like me, you never have one on hand when you need it.
Gone are those days! This card is easy to make, so I suggest making a few at a time. This way, you’ll have a few extras when you need them.
The peonies themselves are gorgeous, but the color palette is what makes this card so comforting. The yellow and gray go together beautifully!
You don’t have to stick with this color palette though. Here is a similar card I made in the past using a different color combination.
So, if you like the layout and want to change the color, there are endless possibilities! Feel free to experiment and build up your supply of cards.
To make the sympathy card
- Begin with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Gray Granite card stock, score and fold at 4 1/4″ to form your card base.
- Wrap a 6″ piece of Gray Granite Shimmer ribbon around a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Peony Garden designer series paper (DSP). Secure the ends with adhesive, and adhere to the card base using Stampin’ SEAL.
- Stamp four leaves on a piece of Soft Sea Foam card stock using Old Olive ink.
- Crop the leaves, two peony flowers in So Saffron card stock, and two stamens in Gray Granite card stock with the Peony dies using your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.
- Color the edges of the individual flower pieces with a Sponge Dauber using So Saffron ink.
- Assemble the two Peonies together, being sure to glue the pieces together towards the bottom as you go.
- Add a small dab of Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the lower portion of the stamens and insert them into the Peonies.
- Adhere two leaves to each Peony using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Overlap the two Peonies slightly, and attach them to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Stamp your sentiment on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock using Gray Granite ink.
- Crop out the sentiment with the 2nd smallest square, and a piece of Gray Granite card stock with the 3rd smallest square from the Layering Squares dies using your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.
- Layer and adhere the squares together and attach to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Attach three Elegant Faceted Gems as shown.
- FOR AN ADDED TOUCH: Add a piece of matching Neutrals designer series paper to the envelope flap. Glue a 2 1/2″ x 6″ piece to the outside of the envelope and trim off the excess with your Paper Snips.
