Saying Goodbye to Merry Merlot

Today I am saying goodbye to Merry Merlot with the Artistically Inked stamp bundle.

Saying Goodbye to Merry Merlot with Artistically Inked

The 2023 Artisan Design Team is saying goodbye to some of the retiring colors on an Instagram hop, and I chose Merry Merlot. It’s a color that I rarely use, so I’m giving it one last shot in the lime light.

It’s funny how things work. I didn’t feel particularly fond of the color, but once I made the card, I started to question why I never used it. I think it is quite pretty when paired with the right colors. For this one, I chose the new (returning) color, Berry Burst. The two work really well together, especially when set against a nice green like the one I made here.

Speaking of the card, you’re probably wondering how I made it. Well, here goes…

Begin with a Merry Merlot card base, and adhere a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Berry Burst to it. Then, layer a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Awash in Beauty DSP on top of it.

Color a piece of Basic White cardstock with your Blending Brushes using Granny Apple Green and Mossy Meadow ink. Then, crop it twice using the large leaf die.

Once that is done, you need to make your flowers. For them, ink up each flower with Merry Merlot ink, stamp off, then use a Sponge Dauber to dab Berry Burst ink on the outer center and edges. Follow up with another Sponge Dauber inked up with some Merry Merlot ink for the very center, then stamp on a piece of Basic White cardstock. Stamp two small centers using Berry Burst ink and crop all the flowers.

Adhere the leaves to a piece of Lovely Layers Vellum using Stampin’ SEAL and adhere the center of the flowers to the flowers. (Be sure to only apply the Stampin’ SEAL to areas behind where the flowers will be.)

Stamp your sentiment in Merry Merlot ink and punch it with the Double Oval Punch. Layer it on top of a larger oval in Merry Merlot and attach to the Vellum in the lower-left corner with Dimensionals.

Attach the flowers using Dimensionals, then attach the entire piece to the card using more Dimensionals. Place a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels on it and color the center of the flowers with Wink of Stella as shown.

  1. I will have to say this is probably the prettiest card I have ever seen made in my life. I have used Stampin Up products for 20 plus years! It is absolutely beautiful!!

  2. Love the card. I’m sorry to see Merry Merlot go. I just recently bought the paper and ink pad. However, I’m happy to see some of the other discontinued colors return. Maybe Merry Merlot will return in a couple years.
