Tasteful Touches in Misty Moonlight for the Pals Blog Hop

Pals Blog Hop Badge for June

Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our theme is the “new 2020-2022 In Colors.” The Design Team is showcasing the new family of In Colors from the new catalog. We know you will love them as much as we do! At the end of my post, you will find the full line-up below to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Tasteful Touches in Misty Moonlight

Today I am showcasing the new In Color Misty Moonlight. I absolutely love this shade of blue! It it reminiscent of denim and pairs so nicely with other colors. As a result, I’m sure you will fall in love with it to!

My color inspiration for this card came directly from the In Color Color Coach. It is such a great tool to have when you’re looking for a little inspiration in your color choice.

After choosing the color palette, the rest came together quite easily. I knew that I wanted to have a touch of elegance in this card, so I reached for the embossing paste. The paste allows you to have texture in your card that has a velvety look to it. In addition, you can color the paste to match any color, such as the Misty Moonlight.

The first step, prior to embossing, is to selectively cover part of the decorative mask with post it notes. The result is that you only emboss the area that you want. In this instance, I chose to emboss the center of the card. Once the paste was dry, I placed the decorative mask back over the image that I just embossed, and colored it in Misty Moonlight using sponge daubers.

Satisfied with the look, I distressed the sides and adhered it to a layer of Misty Moonlight card stock and a Whisper White card base.

Once the basis of my card was formed, I went to work on the flower. The flower was stamped on Whisper White card stock with StazOn Black ink, and water colored using Misty Moonlight and So Saffron. After that, the flower was cut using the fussy cut method, and a small amount of Wink of Stella was applied to the yellow center.

The next step, is adding another one of my favorite techniques and is a simple one; adding layers. Prior to adhering my flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals, Mossy Meadow sprigs were punched out with the Sprig Punch and adhered along with some natural wood elements. Just by adding a couple of sprigs and wood leaf elements, the blue flower has dimension.

Finally, to finish this card, I added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels. And, since this elegant card just isn’t the same without a matching envelope, one needed to be added. Adhering a small strip of Designer Series Paper to the envelope flap makes the perfect accompaniment.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for July 8th – Gifts from the Garden when the design team will showcase cards or gift ideas from treasures found in the garden.

Don’t miss the fun! Until then, please stay safe and have fun in your craft room.
