The 12 Weeks of Christmas; Week 1

It’s that time of year already. The 12 weeks of Christmas is upon us and every week, I will showcase a new Christmas card.

The 12 weeks of Christmas

Today’s Christmas card uses the Ornamental Envelopes stamp set. It is a 10-piece phoyopolymer stamp set that has coordinating dies. The dies make beautiful cutouts on your envelope and really add a nice element.

This card is pretty simple to make, but requires some heat embossing.

To make this card

  • Begin with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Whisper White card stock, score and fold at 4 1/4″ to form your card base.
  • Adhere a 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of ‘Tis the Season designer series paper to the card.
  • Stamp your image and the sentiment on a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of vellum using Versamark ink. Cover what you just stamped with Silver Stampin’ Emboss powder. Shake off the excess and heat with your Heat Tool until melted.
  • Color the ornaments on the back side of the vellum using Cherry Cobbler and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends.
  • Apply some Glue Dots behind the ornaments and sentiment (so that you cannot see them through the vellum) and attach to a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Silver Foil paper.
  • Attach the Silver Foil piece to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Add a few red Wonderful Gems to finish the card. (hint-put a glue dot behind one of the gems on the right to hold the vellum down)
  • Cut a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock. Layer a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Whisper White card stock on top and adhere to the inside of the card.
  • Crop a Whisper White envelope with the Envelopes dies using a Cut & Emboss machine.
  • Cut a 1 5/8″ x 4 1/2″ matching piece of ‘Tis the Season designer series paper and carefully glue to the inside of the envelope flap.

I purposely left the inside of my card blank. Once I know where this card will be sent, I will stamp it with a sentiment that is more personalized for the recipient.
