I have a cute card made with Trucking Along for #TGIFC430 today. Our theme this week is travel.
My Trucking Along bundle arrived this week, and I couldn’t wait to play with it, so this travel challenge was perfect timing! Although I am not planning any travel this month, this card reminds me of past travels that I have made. Specifically, road trips to go hiking.
My husband and I like to explore different areas and hike, so we would typically travel to those destinations by car. Some of the destinations were long and the scenery consisted of a lot of countryside.
If you ever traveled long distance by car, then you know that it can get pretty mundane. Instead of thinking that the trip is boring along the way, the sentiment is to remind you to enjoy all of your trip. Although there is not a lot to do while driving on the road, you can learn to appreciate the diverse setting and enjoy nature’s beauty.
Here is how to make this cute card (warning; it’s a long one😀)
- Begin with a 5 ½” x 8 ½” piece of Gray Granite cardstock, score and fold at 4 ¼” to form your card base.
- Adhere a 3 ¾” x 5” piece of Let’s Go Fishing DSP to a 3 7/8” x 5 1/8” piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock and adhere both to the card base.
- Stamp your fence across a 3” x 4 ¼” piece of Basic White cardstock using Gray Granite ink. The outline is full strength, and the inside is stamped off.
- Make two masks for the tree stamp using a post it note or Masking Paper and cut out with your Paper Snips.
- Cover the fence with the edge of a post it note as seen below and stamp a tree using Early Espresso ink.
- Place one of the masks over the tree and stamp another tree next to it, lower, and slightly overlapping the original tree.
- Move your post it note over and stamp another tree on the right-hand side.
Add some color
- Place your masks over the two trees on the left and cover the fence on the left. Color the background with Balmy Blue ink and a Blending Brush. Move the post it note over to cover the right side, use masks to cover the tree, and color the rest.
- Stamp the leaves on the trees, and some grass along the fence, using Garden Green ink. Full strength on the two outer trees and grass and stamped off on the middle tree.
- Using a Water Painter, lightly go over the stamped images to soften their look.
- Stamp some road marks on the lower half using Pebbled Path ink. Color the section with Pebbled Path ink and a Mini Blending Brush. Then, using a Black Stampin’ Write marker, color three of the birds from the On the Ocean stamp set and stamp in the sky.
- On a separate piece of Basic White cardstock, stamp the truck and the wheels in Tuxedo Memento black ink. Stamp the truck background in Misty Moonlight ink, stamped off.
- Punch the truck with the Trucking Along Builder punch.
- Stamp two clouds in Smoky Slate ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. The outline is stamped off once and the inside is stamped off twice. Fussy cut the clouds.
- Attach the clouds and the truck using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Adhere the entire piece to a 3” x 4 ¼” piece of Garden Green cardstock, diagonally, and attach to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Add the finishing touches
- Stamp your sentiment (from the Easter Bunny stamp set) on a ¾” x 2 ½” piece of Basic White cardstock using Pebbled Path ink.
- Punch the ends, and a ¾” strip of Gray Granite cardstock, with the Banners Pick a Punch. Cut the Gray Granite strip in two and adhere each piece on the ends of the sentiment.
- Apply some Stampin’ SEAL to the back of the sentiment, adhere some Black twine to it, and attach to the card as shown.
- For a little shimmer, add some Wink of Stella to the windows of the truck.
- FOR AN ADDED TOUCH: Add a piece of matching Regals designer series paper (DSP) to the envelope flap. Glue a 2 1/2″ x 6″ piece to the outside of the envelope and trim off the excess with your Paper Snips.
