The Wildly Grateful Whale DSP card is a design for the Global Design Project. This week their challenge theme is “aquatic” so I am showcasing the Whale of a Time Designer series Paper (DSP).
Admittedly, when I was deciding on what to make make for this challenge, I was stumped. How could I come up with an aquatic-themed card without any aquatic stamp sets? Well, after much thought, I realized that I do not need to stamp something as long as I have the Whale of a Time designer series paper.
Sometimes, all you need is some designer series paper and a little imagination.
Aside from fussy cutting the whales and fish, the designer series paper is also part of the layout. The stitched Nested Labels are providing a nice showcase, the Sprig Punch is providing some texture, and the herringbone background is adding some very special interest.
The herringbone background is a fun technique that is great for scraps or for whenever you want to create some visual interest. The credit for this technique goes to a fellow demonstrator Lisa Curcio, and the video for it is below.
In the end, I did reach for a stamp set. The “wildly grateful” stamp, and the layered tag it is on, is from the Lovely You bundle. It is quickly becoming my favorite go-to set.
To finish this card, I added a little Bumblebee ribbon and some bling from the 2020-2022 In Color enamel dots.
