Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!
Happy Holidays! This month, the theme is Winter Wonderland. We hope that you will be inspired by all the amazing creations the Pals are sharing with you! Then, you will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
The thought of a winter wonderland can be many things, so why not poinsettias? They remind me of many past holidays spent at my grandmother’s. She always had these flowers sitting around her house in the winter, and in Ohio there was enough snow to call it a winter wonderland quite often.
I really like poinsettias, but never buy them. They are poisonous to cats, and my two are frisky enough to eat them, so I can’t take that chance. I have to settle for having them in paper form.
To make these paper poinsettias, I used the Ringed With Nature stamp set. It is in the annual catalog on page 44 and is quite versatile. There are many sentiments that you can use throughout the year. The coordinating dies and embossing folder, Tree Rings, can be found on page 167.
To make the card
- Begin with a 5 ½” x 8 ½” piece of Real Red cardstock, score and fold at 4 ¼” to form your card base.
- Sandwich a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Basic White cardstock in the Snowflake Sky embossing folder and run through your cut & emboss machine. Adhere the embossed piece to your card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Ink up the left side of the Tree Rings Hybrid embossing folder with Early Espresso ink, lay the large tree ring die upside down on top of the ink (it should have a slight click in place), place a 4 ½” x 5 ½” piece of Distressed Gold Specialty DSP on top, and run through your machine.
- Stamp your sentiment on a 5/8” x 4” piece of Real Red cardstock with Versamark ink, quickly dust it with Gold Embossing Powder, tap off the excess, and set in place with your Heat Tool.
- Adhere the sentiment and three of the tree rings to the front of the card using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (MLG) as shown.
- Stamp six poinsettias on a piece of Basic White cardstock; three in Poppy Parade ink and three in Real Red ink.
- Working in batches, stamp the center of the flowers with Versamark ink, quickly dust them with Gold Embossing Powder, tap off the excess, and set in place with your Heat Tool.
- Fussy cut the poinsettias and crop three bunches of leaves in Garden Green cardstock with the Tree Rings dies. (fussy cut means to cut with your Paper Snips.)
- Adhere the green leaves to the card using MLG and the poinsettias with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Attach three gold Festive Pearls as shown.
