Today I have a masculine birthday card for you, made with the Cake Fancy stamp set.
It’s so easy to make a pretty floral card, but what happens when you need a masculine card instead? Well, I present to you a masculine birthday card that I have made with the Cake Fancy stamp set.
I have paired it with the Timeless Plaid DSP from the Jan-Apr 2024 mini catalog. It has the perfect colors to turn any card into a masculine one. There are so many blues, greens, and browns in it that it’s hard to decide on which shade to use.
Ultimately, I went with the piece that has the following colors;
Adding a chocolate piece of cake and an Early Espresso sentiment ties it all together. Just look at that yummy cake!!
To make the card
- Begin with a 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” piece of Basic White Thick cardstock, score and fold at 4 1/4” to form your card base.
- Layer and adhere a 3 7/8” x 5 1/8” piece of Timeless Plaid DSP to a 4” x 5 1/4” piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock, and adhere both to the card base.
- Sandwich a 3 1/4” x 4 1/2” piece of Basic White cardstock in the Forever Plaid embossing folder and run through your Cut & Emboss machine.
- Wrap a piece of of the 2023-2025 In Color Jute Trim around the embossed piece, about 1 1/4” down from the top, three times. Secure the ends on the back with Stampin’ SEAL+, then attach the piece to the card diagonally with more Stampin’ SEAL+.
- Stamp the three layers of cake, with icing, on a piece of Basic White cardstock, leaving 1/8” space between them, using Early Espresso ink. Then, stamp over the two bottom pieces using Pecan Pie ink.
- Using your Water Painter, brush over the three layers of cake and the icing to blend the ink and soften the look. Then, color the space between the cake with your Medium Deep (SU300) Stampin’ Blend.
- Stamp the cake stand below the cake using Misty Moonlight ink, and a candle and flame off to the side using Old Olive and Daffodil Delight ink. Soften the stand and candle images with your Water Painter like you did the cake.
Time to cut the cake
- Cut the cake (with stand) and the candle (with flame) out with your Paper Snips. When cutting the candle, trim off any white border on the side around the bottom 1/3 of the candle.
- Place the cake on a piece of cardboard and cut a small slit in it with a utility knife. Insert the candle into the cake, lining up the white border of the candle with the edge of the cake, and tape in place on the backside with Scotch tape. Adhere the cake to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. (Hint- apply two Stampin’ Dimensionals, one on top of the other, to the candle flame. This will ensure that the height is appropriate for the cake.)
- Adhere a piece of Foam Adhesive Sheet to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock. Crop out the sentiment (from Wanted to Say dies) and attach to the card.
- Attach three Adhesive-Backed Dots for Days as shown.
