Happy New Year with Light the Sky

Happy Sunday and Happy New Year! I have a special card for you today made with the Light the Sky bundle.

This special card is a bitter-sweet one for me. I made it to celebrate the New Year and to welcome the new 2024 Artisan Design Team. They are a crazy-talented bunch and I am sure that you won’t be disappointed with the designs they share with you.

With that, however, means that my year as an Artisan Design Team member is over. It has been a fantastic year for me and I thoroughly enjoyed being on the team. Stampin’ Up! truly is a wonderful company and I am blessed beyond belief that they chose me to help represent them in 2023.

I couldn’t have been so successful without the support of my followers though. You are what has kept me going with your kind words of encouragement and for that, I thank you.💗

I will still be delivering you some fantastic creations though, so don’t worry. I’ll just have a little more free time to do it.😉

Now, on to this beautiful New Year card.

The card was made with the Light the Sky stamp bundle. It can be found on page 58 of the Sep-Dec 2023 mini catalog for a few more days. When the catalog retires, you can find the set on the Stampin’ Up! website as it will be an online exclusive.

Light the Sky stamp set

To make the card

  • Begin with a 5 ½” x 8 ½” piece of Basic Black cardstock, score and fold at 4 ¼” to form your card base.
  • Adhere a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Basic White cardstock to the card base.
  • Working in batches, stamp some firework images on a 3 7/8” x 5 1/8” piece of Basic Black cardstock with Versamark. Quickly dust them with either white, silver, gold, or copper embossing powder. Tap off the excess powder and set in place with your Heat Tool.
  • Adhere the piece to the card base.

  • Stamp two large firework images on a piece of Basic White cardstock with Versamark ink. Quickly dust them with Black embossing powder, tap off the excess, and set in place with your Heat Tool.
  • Color the two firework images with your Blending Brushes in the following colors; Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, and Flirty Flamingo.
  • Stamp two smaller firework images in the center of the image (one at a time) with Versamark ink. Dust one image in White embossing powder, tap off the excess, and set in place with your Heat Tool. Then, repeat the process with the second image and Gold embossing powder.

Time to crop

  • Crop your firework images with the Light the Sky dies and a circle in Vellum with the largest circle from the Stylish Shapes dies, using your Cut & Emboss machine.
  • Stamp your sentiment on a piece of Basic White cardstock with Versamark ink. Quickly dust it with Black embossing powder, tap off the excess, and set in place with your Heat Tool.
  • Crop the sentiment with the label die from the All That dies.
  • Adhere the firework images and sentiment to the vellum circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • Apply more Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the sentiment and the back of the vellum (ensuring they are not showing through) and attach to the card. (hint- apply a double layer of Dimensionals to the back of the sentiment that is not attached to the circle. This will ensure that the height is even when the entire piece is attached.)

  • Attach three Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems as shown.
