Happy Friday! todays card is a Beautiful Butterflies Inspiration challenge card for #TGIFC518.

Admitingly, this butterfly card is no where near as colorful as the inspiration photo, but it does share some of the some of the same colors as the flowers.
This was actually a card I designed for my niece’s birthday, and became the design for all the swap cards that I shared at OnStage. So, not only did I make this card, I made 65 more of them in varying colors.
There was a lot of cutting and embossing, and I even got a little help from my cat, Thor.

Of course, when I say “help” from Thor, this is actually what it looked like.😂

My last cat, Jackson, always wanted to eat the paper, plastic, ribbon, etc…but this one, he wants to eat the dies!
After wrestling with him through the process, here is how I was finally able to make the cards.
To make the card
- Adhere a 3 3/4” x 5” piece of Petal Pink cardstock to a 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” piece of Smoky Slate cardstock. Then, adhere a 3 1/2” x 4 3/4” piece of Beautiful Bokeh DSP to it.
- Cut a 4 3/4” x 7” piece of Basic White cardstock, score and fold at 3 1/2”.
- With the Basic White piece open, lay the large butterfly die on top with the small line on the die lining up with the fold line. Run through your Cut & Emboss machine. Turn the piece 180 degrees, and repeat the process to form your butterfly card.

- With the butterfly card closed, stamp the stripes and dots in all four corners of the wings, and the sentiment on the inside, using Smoky Slate ink. Then, adhere it to the card, centered on the DSP.

- Wrap a 6 1/4” piece of Fresh Freesia Seam Binding ribbon around the middle of the butterfly and adhere the ends to the top of the butterfly using Stampin’ SEAL. (this was a Sale-A-Bration ribbon that is no longer available.)
Time to emboss
- With the Beautiful Butterflies embossing folder open, and the SU logo on the left, place the butterfly die upside down to fit in the groove. Lay a piece of Petal Pink cardstock on top and run through your Cut & Emboss machine.
- Crop a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock with the large butterfly and a piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock with the medium, detailed butterfly.
- Cut the wings off of the Smoky Slate butterfly, and the antenna off of the Petal Pink butterfly, with your Paper Snips.

- Apply some glue to the body of the Fresh Freesia butterfly and attach it to the Petal Pink butterfly. (Hint- do not apply glue to the wings of the butterfly. You only want to attach it at the body.)
- Flip the butterflies over, attach a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional to the end of each wing, and apply glue to the body. Then, attach it to the middle of the white butterfly on the card.
- Adhere the Smoky Slate body to the butterfly, lining it up to cover the white body.

- Stamp your sentiment on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Smoky Slate ink.
- Crop your sentiment with the small label die and adhere to the card using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Attach two Purple Fine Shimmer Gems as shown.

Optional – if you want to add Wink of Stella to the Fresh Freesia butterfly, like I did after the fact, you can do the following;
- Place a scrap piece of paper under each half of the wing, prior to adhering the sentiment, and color with Wink of Stella.
