Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month, the theme is “Home for the Holidays”. We really hope that you enjoy and are inspired by them! As you hop from blog to blog, don’t forget to leave comments because we love hearing from you. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
I instantly thought of my grandma’s house when I saw the theme for this month’s hop. The entire family gathered at her house for Christmas Eve and she had presents for everyone! The area below her tree was always stuffed to the brim and the mantle on the fireplace was full of garland and stockings. Of course, there weren’t any cute critters stuffed in the stockings, but if I would have had my way, there would have been.
I am a huge animal lover and have yet to meet a furry critter that I haven’t liked. So, I think the Sweet Little Stockings bundle is the perfect choice this month’s hop.
How cute is this set? The little animals are darling and the matching dies come with lots of extras. The designer series paper (DSP) even coordinates with the dies!
This collection can be found on page 31 of the Jul-Dec 2021 Mini Catalog. And now, on to the card.
To make the card
- Begin with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock, score and fold at 5 1/2″ to form your card base.
- Adhere a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Sweet Stockings designer series paper (DSP) to a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Pool Party cardstock using Stampin’ SEAL.
- Mar all four sides of your piece using your Bone Folder.
- Crop two large labels in Basic Gray cardstock with the Stockings dies using your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.
- Sandwich the two labels in the Brick & Mortar embossing folder and run through your machine.
- Cut the labels to measure 2 1/2″ for one and 2 5/8″ for the other.
- Adhere the cut labels to the DSP, with the seam in the middle, using Stampin’ SEAL.
- Stamp your garland with lights on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Old Olive ink.
- Color the garland with the following blends: Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Pool Party, and So Saffron.
- Crop the garland with the Festive Finishes dies (#2) and trim it to measure 5 1/8″ in length.
- Adhere the garland on top of the brick “fireplace” using Stampin’ SEAL.
- Attach the piece to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Time to stamp
- Stamp the following on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Memento black ink: one kitty, one dog, one guinea pig, one Santa hat, three candy canes, three large presents, and three small presents.
- Color the stamped images with the following Stampin’ Blends: Cherry Cobbler, Cinnamon Cider, Crumb Cake, Evening Evergreen, Gray Granite, Old Olive, and So Saffron.
- Stamp some stars on one of the large presents with Bumblebee ink. To do this, place the edge of a post it note on the two sides between the area you want to stamp on. Stamp your image, then move the post it note pieces to the next area to be stamped. Repeat the process with the other present using the pine needles stamp and Evening Evergreen ink. (I credit this technique, as well as stuffing the stockings, to fellow demonstrator, Erica Cerwin)
- Crop your images, and a small label in Pool Party cardstock, with the Stockings dies using your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.
- Using the same dies, crop three stockings from the Sweet Stockings DSP and a small bow in Cherry Cobbler cardstock.
- Layer and adhere the stockings with their respective presents and critters as shown. (hint- using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, glue the critter to the stocking first, then glue the goodies behind them.)
- Adhere the three stockings to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Stamp your sentiment on the small Pool Party label using Cherry Cobbler ink.
- Adhere the small bow to the sentiment and attach to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Attach three Matte Decorative Dots as shown.
- For a little bling, apply some Wink of Stella to the whites of the Santa hat and candy canes.
- FOR AN ADDED TOUCH: Add a piece of matching Sweet Stockings designer series paper to the envelope flap. Glue a 2 1/2″ x 6″ piece to the outside of the envelope and trim off the excess with your Paper Snips.
